ELECTROPARK 2023

Evergreen podcast started in 2022 to explore the intersectional, ecologist activism operating in Genova. Through various settings and environments - namely Electropark, a Global Strike For Future, and local places of social an political gathering for the feminist and LGBTQIA+ community - the purpose of its first episodes was to build an audio map of the local communities fighting for a change. “Thinking green while the world is burning” was the motto.

Now the podcast will keep its main mission of cultural, social mapping, but it will focus on Electropark and the cultural echosystem where the festival takes place and which itself contributes to enliven. Starting from Electropark, in fact, is the best way to highlight the connections between different local communities and the deep intersection between natural and urban sounds, people moods, beliefs, lives blending in through the constant crowd of Genova.

As claimed by Betram Niessen, sociologist and activist, our purpose as inhabitants aware of the cultural complexity of a city is to understand how to keep, after the pandemic, living in the vortex. Evergreen wishes to get lost in the vortex, in its voices and sounds, and re-emerge with the possibility of a new urban life of HYPERNATURE.

Evergreen is created and conducted by Claudia Calabresi, podcaster and writer.

The podcast will be airing on Cashmere Radio, a not-for-profit community experimental radio station based in Wedding. Quoting Radio Cashmere’s own words, “The ambition of the station is to preserve and further radio and broadcasting practices by playing with the plasticity and malleability of the medium. We do this by both honouring and challenging its inherent qualities: it is both a physical station open to the public and an online radio; it has regular shows, yet opens itself up to extended and one-off events; it features extended generative music performances and installations at the same time as working within radio’s typical durations. In short, it is an attempt to enhance and celebrate the performative, social and informative power of radio that we believe lies within the
form itself.”

Evergreen nasce nel 2022 con l’obiettivo di esplorare l’attivismo intersezionale e ambientalista presente a Genova. Attraverso una varietà di contesti e ambienti - Electropark, un Global Strike For Future, e luoghi genovesi di aggregazione socio-culturale femminista e LGBTQIA+ - lo scopo dei suoi primi episodi era di costruire una “mappa sonora” delle comunità locali in lotta per il cambiamento. “Pensare verde quando il mondo brucia” era il motto.

 

Ora il podcast continuerà nella sua missione di mappatura socio-culturale, ma si concentrerà su Electropark e sull’ecosistema culturale dove avviene il festival e che esso stesso contribuisce a rendere vitale. Iniziare da Electropark, infatti, è il modo migliore per evidenziare le connessioni tra le diverse comunità locali e la profonda intersezione tra suoni urbani e locali, stati d’animo, opinioni, vite delle persone che si mescolano nella folla costante di Genova.

Citando Bertram Niessen, sociologo e attivista, il nostro scopo come abitanti consapevoli della complessità culturale di una città è capire come continuare, dopo la pandemia, ad abitare il vortice. Evergreen desidera perdersi nel vortice, nelle sue voci e nei suoi suoni, e riemergere con la possibilità di una nuova vita urbana di HYPERNATURE.

Il podcast sarà trasmesso da Cashmere Radio, una radio no profit, sperimentale e di comunità con sede a Wedding. Questo possiamo farlo onorando e, insieme, anche sfidando le sue qualità intrinseche: è sia una stazione fisica aperta al pubblico, che una radio online; ha show a cadenza regolare, ma è aperta a eventi continuativi e saltuari; comprende performance di musica generativa e installazioni e nel frattempo lavora anche all’interno dei tipici tempi radiofonici. In breve, è un tentativo di valorizzare e celebrare il potere performativo, sociale e divulgativo della radio che, noi crediamo, è insito nella sua stessa natura.”
