Valerie Tameu is a performing and multidisciplinary artist whose practice centers on the body in an expanded sense, exploring movement, somatic experiences, and their intersection with technology and decolonial practices. Her research engages with themes such as Afro-European identities, historical archives, and science fiction, through performances, installations, and workshops.
Recent projects include Sonic Bloom, a participatory practice based on rhythm and somatic activation; Time and Again, a performance and audiovisual installation focused on Afro-descendant communities in Italy; and Orynthia, a performance rooted in African mythology and natural ecosystems, enhanced by digital technologies such as VR, AI, and interactive elements.
Her work has been presented in national and international contexts such as Centrale Fies, Ars Electronica, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, and the Italian Cultural Institute in London.
At Electropark 2025, she presents “Sonic Bloom”, a collective experience of movement and sound — a guided practice that traverses perceptual and imaginative states until it becomes a ritual of shared dance. Preceding it is the workshop “Vibrant Bodies. Somatic Seas and Visionary Currents,” a space for research and listening where water acts as a connective element between memory, practice, and vision.
Starting from reflections on aquatic worlds, spirituality, and forms of resistance rooted in Black feminism, the workshop opens up to the body and its ability to generate space — physical, political, poetic. Through visual materials, readings, and somatic practices, participants move between depth and surface, between what remains and what can emerge. The work focuses on the “movement of water” within the tissues of the body and the imagination: shaking, bubbling, rebounds, vibrations. The body becomes a place of resonance, permeated by rhythm and responsive to sound.
Sonic Bloom is the blooming of this process: a session of ecstatic dance inspired by contemporary trance states, where rhythm leads, the body responds, and space is transformed. A physical and sonic crescendo, a sensory expansion where we shake, vibrate, and resonate together — an invitation to enter the flow.
