Vladlena Sandu (she/her) is a theatre and film director based in Amsterdam. Her artistic practice intertwines autobiography, historical memory and documentary languages, with a focus on the consequences of the war in Chechnya, forced migrations and queer subjectivities. Her works have been presented at international festivals and institutions such as DOK Leipzig, Rotterdam IFF, Berlinale, GoEast, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, Teatro di Roma and Mattatoio.

At Electropark 2025 she presents the national premiere of “Extremist Alice”, a performance she wrote and directed, choreographed by Polina Mirovskaya (she/her) and performed with Donna Demoon (she/her), a German trans actress and performer. Based on a true story, the work gives voice to an asylum request in a detention center in the Netherlands, transforming the experience into a performative and choreographic act that reflects on identity, exclusion and resistance.
