TYGAPAW (they/them) are a producer, DJ and multidisciplinary artist born in Mandeville, Jamaica, and based in New York.
A central figure in the city's queer electronic music scene, since 2014 they have led Fake Accent, a project that began as a club night and later became a record label.
Their work blends techno, sound design and voice, addressing themes related to Black queer identity, migration, and queer liberation and world building.
In 2020, they released their debut album Get Free, followed in 2023 by love has never been a popular movement, out on Fabric Originals. This latest record marks an evolution in both sound and narrative, incorporating hardware and placing new emphasis on the voice.
Raised in Jamaica and now active in Brooklyn, TYGAPAW merges dancehall and techno into a deeply personal musical vision. Among their projects is Devil Woman (Obeah Woman), a techno opera presented at the Queens Museum for Art Omi.
