Federica Loredan

Federica Loredan is a choreographer, dancer, body musician and anthropologist. She describes herself as an “anthropologist mind in a groovy body”, as her practice combines cultural research and artistic creation through transdisciplinary experiences that range from the underground street dance scene to contemporary theatre, and from academic contexts to scientific research. For Loredan, body music is a tool for exploration and connection, used to activate creative processes and build communities.

Considered one of the pioneers of Italian hip hop, Federica has long worked to open space for women within the scene and to share her background with new generations. Her works have been presented in different European contexts and are currently circulating in six countries. In 2015 she received the award for Best Choreographic Research at the Solo Coreografico competition, with an invitation to the Hallet-Eghayan Company in Lyon. Her work Sirene is also mentioned in the book Museums and Communities: Diversity and Dialogue in an Age of Migration (Cambridge Scholars, 2018).

Dal margine alla soglia (From the edge to the threshold)

At Electropark she leads the workshop “Dal margine alla soglia”, a practice that explores the theme of women’s spaces through movement and sound. The workshop develops as a collective and participatory experience based on guided practices. Participants explore how shared forms of women’s work in the past created spaces for exchange, the transmission of knowledge and forms of emancipation. Starting from these reflections, the workshop opens a space for dialogue and experimentation around the body, identity and possibilities for transformation in the present. The experience is open to everyone interested.
