Elias Klark
Elias Klark is a dancer and performance artist based between the Netherlands and Cyprus. His research explores themes of colonialism, diaspora and militarised states, shaped by the geopolitical tensions of his homeland and his experience of compulsory service in the Cypriot National Guard.
His performances move between transformation and liminal spaces, approaching “buffer zones” as both physical and symbolic territories where new forms of coexistence can be imagined.
The New Buffer Zone
At Electropark 2026 he presents, as an Italian premiere, The New Buffer Zone, for which he signs choreography, performance and light design, with artistic advice by Bruno Listopad and Maryam Babur, music by Dimitra Sofroniou and costumes by Hayden Bouvet.
The work takes inspiration from the buffer zone that has divided Cyprus since 1974, a militarised and abandoned territory suspended in time. Klark imagines this space as a place without human presence, marked by political separation, but also as a possible ground for transformation.
Through an audiovisual construction combining body, light and sound, the stage becomes the image of a territory shaped by a permanent truce between North and South. The performance sets in motion a body in continuous transformation, marked by tension and the desire for change.
The work was previously presented at Amsterdam Fringe Festival (2025) and Flash Art Festival (Cyprus, 2025).
Please note
The performance lasts 30 minutes.
