Corps Citoyen
Corps Citoyen is a multidisciplinary artistic collective based between Tunis and Milan. Its practice combines different languages — including dance, theatre, poetry, video, animation, writing and anthropological research — to develop new contemporary narratives. The collective’s work engages with themes of citizenship through artistic and participatory practices. The name Corps Citoyen reflects this direction, considering the body as a space of expression, relationship and transformation.
The collective’s first work, MOUVMA! Nous, qui avons encore 25 ans (2013/2014), has been presented at numerous festivals across Europe and Tunisia and received awards including the Movin’Up Prize and a special mention at the BE Festival in Birmingham. The collective has been an associated artist at BASE Milano (2022–2024) and is part of the European network In Situ. Since 2020, it has also founded Milano Mediterranea, a participatory arts centre based in Milan.
Barrani
At Electropark 2026, they present Barrani, a performance that explores the experience of migration and the condition of living between multiple places, languages and identities. The work unfolds around the feeling of being out of place — a presence that belongs neither to the place of origin nor to the place of arrival — suspended between past and present, between what is left behind and what is yet to be built.
In Tunisian Arabic, barrani means “foreigner”, literally “the one who comes from outside”. Starting from this term, the performance develops an individual and collective reflection on diaspora, addressing themes such as departure and return, desire and limitation, belonging and displacement.
Through body, voice and stage presence, Barrani explores what it means to inhabit an in-between space, living between two cultures and between what is left behind and what is yet to be constructed.
