BOYS WON'T BE BOYS
A theatrical workshop day around gender and storytelling, open to performers, students, activists and participants from all disciplines and levels of experience.
Do you have a story you haven’t had the courage to tell yet? Are you curious about exploring what it means to be masculine, feminine, and everything in between? With your body, your words, with others?
Together with Vincenzo Turiano (IT/NL) and Frans Blokhuis (NL), you’ll enter the world of Boys Won’t Be Boys and spend a full day discovering what happens when words become gestures and gestures become poems.
Through a series of guided exercises, you’ll build something of your own, something short, personal, true. At the end of the day, we’ll share what we made. Because in a moment when being yourself is still something to fight for, we believe that telling your story is necessary. Now more than ever.
Join us on one of the days between June 16 and 19. You’re welcome to come for more than one day.
Vincenzo Turiano and Frans Blokhuis
Vincenzo (33, they/them) creates and dances. They trained at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan and spent thirteen years performing across European dance companies before building an independent practice with Boys Won’t Be Boys. Their work inhabits bodies in transformation, gender fluidity, and spaces where the body can exist beyond binary expectations.
Frans (32, he/him) is a writer and storyteller based in Rome with a background in Gender Studies. He grew up in a Christian, Dutch Reformed family. The tension between those roots and his queer identity runs through all his work like a thread that never breaks.

What is Boys Won’t Be Boys?
Boys Won’t Be Boys is a theatre movement born in the Netherlands and grown internationally. A place where people from all backgrounds show up as they truly are, without filters. Vulnerability is not a limitation, it’s the starting point. Nobody fits perfectly in a box, and that's something to celebrate. In 2024, Boys Won’t Be Boys received the Winq Diversity Award for their innovative contribution to diversity in culture and the connection between queer and heterosexual communities.
Who is it for?
Everyone. Professional performers and total beginners, young and old, across all gender identities and sexual orientations. The workshop is a safe space for expression, exchange and collective reflection. We ask only one thing: to be yourself. We are genuinely curious to hear your story.
